Newsletter of ALIG on 2013, November 18th :
We had a wonderful turnout today, despite the unfortunate last minute rescheduling. Thanks to all those who donated supplies and time toward today's efforts. (Please see list below.)
As Kapitan Felix Oca and the Norwegian Training Center ship return to Manila tomorrow, we doubled our efforts to make sure our relief supplies were ready to go when they depart for Coron and other locations less accessible and still in great need.
For this shipment, ALIG will be able to contribute the following (after TWO great days of volunteer packing) due to supplies provided directly to us as well as monetary donations from members, their employers and their family and friends abroad:
- 893 Family Hygiene Kits (towel, toilet paper, soap, sanitary napkins, toothbrushes, toothpaste, detergent, rubbing alcohol)
- 280 Infant/Toddler Support Kits (donated stuffed animal, dry formula, diapers, item of clothing, hand towel and some with blankets)
- 200 Individual Hygiene Kits (soap, rubbing alcohol, toilet paper)
- 353 Emergency Food Kits (2 kilo of rice, Assorted canned goods, noodles, biscuits)
- Additional supplies of canned food
- 2600 Bottles of Water (various volumes)
- 600 Tarpaulins
Additional support will be provided to an area particularly devastated and desperate near Bohol.
We have supplied a generator to a community where they have not received sufficient water and have no electricity. Children and adults are sick from drinking contaminated water. By providing this small generator, we can help them supply power to a pump needed to clean the water supply. This will enable them to start providing the Barangay residents with clean water.
Basic medicine has also been requested and will be provided by ALIG as well. This shipment departs tomorrow. (2013 November 19th)
